About La Maison

The foundation of Terre des homme Valais runs autonomously La Maison de Terre des hommes and manages its finances that are solely based on public donations.

The foundation

The foundation Terre des hommes Valais is responsible of welcoming, in partnership with the foundation Terre des hommes in Lausanne, children transferred to Switzerland within the Specialised Care programme. Most of the children who must be operated are from Western African countries, mostly suffering from a heart disease. As it is impossible for them to receive the medical attention they need in their home countries, they are transferred to Switzerland to be operated in Geneva, Lausanne or Bern and are housed in La Maison de Terre des hommes before and after their surgery, until they are able to return to their homes.

Our Mission

Step by step, Terre des hommes Valais changed the lives of more than 9.000 children in more than 60 countries.

« We tangibly changed the lives of these children and their families. But our mission is far from being over: everyday, we receive terrible news about atrocities and inequalities all over the world. But every day, at “La Maison”, we manage to find hope and motivation, in the smile of a child or in the most touching situations. We are determined to keep going, according to the spirit of the Terre des hommes chart, thus pushing the limits of what may seem impossible: a fairer, better world. »
